Foreign Trade Zones and HUVR Center Support Provide Competitive Advantages in International Trade

As foreign trade dominated headlines in early 2025, Foreign Trade Zones again proved their value as a vital cost-saving link in the logistics supply chain.

By offering Foreign Trade Zone No. 83 as one of its contract operations, the Port of Huntsville continues to provide businesses with a competitive advantage in international trade. POH was proud to welcome new FTZ Operating Agreements with ADTRAN, Corporate Warehouse, and First Solar.

The HUVR Center at Huntsville International Airport continues to expand its footprint in the unmanned aircraft industry, welcoming Australian aerospace company Boresight as a new tenant alongside Skyfire AI.

HSV Celebrates Multiple Firsts

In commercial aviation, HSV had a lot of superlatives and firsts to celebrate. Air service to Huntsville International Airport continued its upward trend with robust increases in availability of seats in our market and interest in flying. There were 1,672,438 passengers flying HSV from July 2024 through June 2025, combining enplaned and deplaned. By comparison, there were 1,538,851 in FY24, an increase of 6.3%.

  • HSV was voted #1 Best Small Airport in the U.S. in the 2025 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards online poll for the second year in a row.
  • HSV surpassed all previous one-month passenger records with 160,455 passengers in the month of June 2025.
The HUVR Center at Huntsville International Airport is an FAA-approved UAS Detection and Mitigation Research Program Test Site.
